Xbox Live Games with Gold for July
Xbox Live Games with Gold for July

Each month, Xbox releases two games for the Xbox 360 and two for the Xbox One as part of it’s Games with Gold program for gamers with an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Major Nelson recently announced the Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for July.

Xbox One owners are sure to complain that one of the two games announced was part of the June program – Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood. Given how new the Xbox One is and the small selection of games so far, duplicate offerings were to be expected, just not in back to back months. There is definitely a selection of other games that could have been offered in place of Max for July such as Peggle 2 or Lococycle.

Those looking for something new to play can check out Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition as it debuts on the Xbox One. Who doesn’t like Luchadors, Flaming Bandidos, and three-headed Mariachi Bands?

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition includes a bunch of new features over the previous Guacamelee game including:

  • Expanded Story: An expanded version of the game that includes DLC content from the original
  • New Game Areas: Players will ride boats through the Canal of Flowers to save a besieged fishing town, and avoid lava as they climb through the fiery Volcano
  • New Boss: Face off against The Trio of Death, a three-headed skeleton that lives in the Volcano, helping the evil Carlos Calaca build his skeleton armies
  • New Abilities: Maximize destruction with the powerful new INTENSO combat mode. Plus: Chicken Bombs and Independent Dimension Swapping
  • New Enemies: Lethal new elite-class enemies that want to chokeslam luchadores to sleep
  • Support for multiple save slots
  • Dual currency system that supports permanent item unlocks

For the Xbox 360, games for July are the 6 vs 6 first person arcade shooter Gotham City Imposters (available from July 1-15th) and the action-adventure platform game BattleBlock Theatre (available from July 16th-July 31st).

The Xbox 360 games are yours to keep and play forever (while the Xbox One offerings are only playable as long as you have an active Xbox Live Gold account) so be sure to grab June’s freebies before they disappear, and snag these Games with Gold starting July 1st.
