Everything Everywhere (EE) have taken the crown as the UK’s best mobile operator according to Rootmetrics. Taking the crown in every area of the test, EE have left others in their wake. With giant multinational Vodafone trailing in last in every area.

Network EE NetworksRootmetrics conducted more than 920,000 tests across the UK in the first six months of 2014. Then ranking each mobile carrier in five different categories, Reliability, Speed, mobile internet performance, Call performance and texting. EE were top in every area, with three taking second spot in every area but call performance. Although root metric noted that every operator had improved.

Understandably EE were ecstatic outlining that the test showcased “that the company provides the best mobile experience for businesses and consumers”. Although they did receive a massive head start by bringing in 4g capability months before anyone else was able.

Investment In Performance

Vodafone who placed last in almost every category told the BBC that the company would be spending £1bn on improving its network in 2014. Investment is the name of the game as three Chief of Technology Bryn Jones said “We’ve invested heavily to ensure our customers can rely on a consistent service and as our 4G rollout progresses we will continue to focus on delivering the best mobile experience possible.”

O2 on the other hand chose to contest the validity of the test saying their own tests have found that O2 is “number one in 17 out of the 20 key cities tested for voice-call performance and top in 12 out of 20 for data”.

So the choice is yours, with price being a key factor in everything consumers choose, the service is the most important part of the package. These figures show who the vast majority of users should be choosing to sign the contract with. Which network are you with? Do they offer you the best service?
