HTC Smartwatch Coming Early 2015

|

CNET is reporting that despite reports of the HTC smartwatch being killed, it is indeed alive and coming early 2015.  Reportedly HTC had abandoned the idea of a smarwatch because they felt they couldn’t compete in the wearables market.

HTC is working on a smartwatch that aims to stand out from the crowd. That includes elements of design, which is what the company is known for, as well as features that consumers will more immediately gravitate toward, those familiar with the plans said. An HTC spokesman declined to comment. HTC has sent out invitations to an event on Oct. 8 in New York, but the company won’t be discussing the smartwatch there, one person said.

With Apple announcing their Apple Watch and Motorola launching their Moto 360 the smartwatch market is starting to grow with devices, it remains to be seen if consumers are going to buy in though. HTC has made a great turn around over the past months and have upped their game in the smartphone category with the HTC One M7 first followed by the HTC One M8. They’ve proven they can design a great phone and user interface and it looks like they’re wanting to prove they can play with the big boys in wearables. We’ll see soon enough where HTC is going with this. What do you think of HTC’s possible re-entry into smartwatches? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
