OnePlus One AMA Reveals OnePlus Two

In an appearance in a Reddit AMA, Carl Pei and David from OnePlus confirmed what most people could have guessed, there will be a successor to the OnePlus One next year. However, a few of his comments reveal some insights into the plans for this start up company.

First Carl confirms the (at least working) name of the follow up device to the OnePlus One being the terrible OnePlus Two (If you don’t think that’s bad just consider the future if it gets to OnePlus Seven or more). He also gave a time frame of Q2 or Q3 next year with an invite based system again. This suggests a longer than yearly cycle between new devices which perhaps shouldn’t be a surprise for a new company whose first device apparently was 30x more popular than the company had anticipated.

“OnePlus 2 should be out in Q2 or Q3 of 2015. By that time, I’d think Android L would be standard. :)”

Carl also confirmed that OnePlus is considering offering the device in two form factors a la Sony’s compact range or the iPhone 6 and 6+. While this is a long way from a confirmed rumour it would certainly fit the company’s motto of “Never Settle” that some people have taken issue with due to the form factor.

The other big news in the Reddit AMA is that the OnePlus team are aiming to get Android L out within 90 days of it’s release and anticipate this being standard for the OnePlus Two when it comes out.

If you have been hoping that OnePlus will open up its order system instead of using invites you’ll have to wait. The demand still seems to be swamping this fledgling company.

What would make you want the OnePlus Two?  Be sure to let us know in the comments or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
