Dubai is know for its crazy architecture, wealth, and engineering marvels. Sony’s Middle East and Africa division is going to add to the vibrant city by building an underwater retail location. They are going to call the store an Aquatech; I just shudder at how cool that is. The store is due to open on December 3rd, and when it does, Sony plans to only let some important people and journalists into the submarine space.
Sony is making bold steps in today’s technology markets, and one thing we have learned over the years is that retail space matters in selling technology. This store is going to be an attraction and Sony hopes when you’re down there, you might be so exhilarated you just  have to buy something.  It makes sense for Sony’s retail location to be underwater, of course. The Xperia Z line of phones has been water resistant from the start, and was one of the main selling features. In a mobile market flooded with choice, the Xperia line is still one of a few that is actually water resistant. At least they won’t have to worry about damaging merchandise if the store floods.
