Lizard Squad Member Vinnie Omari Allegedly Arrested In UK

According to various reports, 22-year-old Vinnie Omari, a member of Lizard Squad, has been arrested “on suspicion of fraud by false representation and Computer Misuse Act offences” by UK police. The Thames Valley Police service released the following press release earlier today.

The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) has arrested a 22-year-old man from Twickenham on suspicion of fraud by false representation and Computer Misuse Act offences.

The arrest yesterday (30/12) is in connection with an ongoing investigation in to cyber fraud offences which took place between 2013 and August 2014 during which victims reported funds being stolen from their PayPal accounts.

The arrested man was released on bail until 10 March.

In addition, The Daily Dot is reporting that Omari shared with them details of the arrest and provided photos of the search warrant. Police raided Omari’s residence and removed computers, an Xbox One, and other computer related equipment.

Omari was released on bail and has not yet been formally charged with any crime, the warrant was served in conjunction with the recent Christmas Day DDoS attacks on the Xbox Live and PSN gaming services. According to the bail release, Omari is set to appear in Surrey court on March 10 at 11 a.m.
