3D Sound Labs has a goal to create the most immersive sound experience possible, and they’re making it a reality with Neoh, the world’s first smart 3D headphones.
Announced at CES 2015, 3D Sound Labs has spent two years researching and developing a mobile solution that matches movie-quality sound. Dimitri Singer, co-founder of 3D Sound Labs states that:
“Our Neoh system offers the first headphones with the capability to deliver today’s home theater audio formats and take advantage of all 3D content currently being developed. An essential component of virtual reality, this technology is absolutely revolutionizing the user experience.”
According to 3D Sound Labs, they have succeeded in creating algorithms that reproduce the way humans locate and translate sounds, allowing the Neoh headphones to recreate real life 360° 3D sound.
A Kickstarter for Neoh will launch later this month, with Neoh being available for preorder on 3DSoundLabs.com for delivery this spring.

NEOH: THE WORLD’S FIRST SMART 3D AUDIO HEADPHONESLas Vegas CES 2015: 3D Sound Labs debuts Neoh, the first smart 3D audio headphones. These headphones integrate spatial sound rendering, making the most immersive sound experience in history. Neoh is a true wearable home cinema. These headphones use motion sensors that deliver multipoint sound sources comparable to the latest generation of movie theater surround sound or the most sophisticated home theater equipment on the market. With its 360° sound technology, 3D Sound Labs have successfully introduced a real, theatrical sound experience to 3D audio headphones. Like the visual world, technology is profoundly changing the world of sound. In the same way as the subtlety, color and definition of images are improving, digital technology is enabling more accurate, natural and immersive sound reproduction. 3D sound is inexorably becoming the standard, and it is this powerful revolution that 3D Sound Labs is making a reality. In today’s mobile world, it allows us to enjoy the richer formats – like Mpeg H 3D audio and Dolby Atmos – that have been adopted as the current standard for movie sound production. 3D Sound Labs has created Neoh, the new-generation headphones that deliver genuine 3D audio from mobile devices.Audio as immersive as a movie theater… thanks to Neoh:
After two years of research and development, the 3D Sound Labs team is now able to offer a mobile solution for the delivery of movie-quality sound. 3D Sound Labs has developed a dedicated CPU-frugal audio/video player that delivers a high-quality stream of spatially reconstructed audio. 3D Sound Labs has succeeded in the technical challenge of virtualizing multiple sound sources in space in the same way as a multichannel movie soundtrack to give listeners a much more real experience. Users can precisely pinpoint the sound source, just as if they were listening to the best home theater system. The headphones are also fitted with head tracking sensors; a feature previously exclusive to audio professionals. These special sensors interpret even the smallest movement to recreate the 3-dimensional sound we hear in real life. The Neoh player intuitive mobile app delivers a totally new kind of audio experience in partnership with the Neoh headphones.Dimitri Singer, co-founder of 3D Sound Labs: “Our Neoh system offers the first headphones with the capability to deliver today’s home theater audio formats and take advantage of all 3D content currently being developed. An essential component of virtual reality, this technology is absolutely revolutionizing the user experience.”How it works:
We humans locate sounds based on the time differential between its perception via each of our ears, and on the way sounds are shaped by acoustic filters known as Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTF) depending on our individual faces and ears. 3D Sound Labs has developed algorithms with the ability to reproduce these spatial perception mechanisms and therefore detect the tiniest movement of the head to reconstitute sound sources in space and in real time.About 3D Sound Labs
