Niantic Labs And Anker Partner To Keep Ingress Agents Powered Up

|

It’s no secret that Niantic Labs’ popular Alternate Reality Game Ingress can be a huge drain on your phone’s battery.  I’ll admit, Ingress was the impetus for my first external battery purchase.  Not completely surprisingly, that first external battery was an Anker.  Anker has long been nearly synonymous with Ingress, and today they’ve made that relationship a bit more official.

In a Press Release issued today, Anker and Niantic Labs outline a partnership that will result in custom external batteries for the Ingress community.  Ingress Agents have never been shy about creating their own Ingress art, stickers, patches, etc. but now they’ll be able to purchase an officially licensed battery.  If that’s not enough, Anker is giving agents an opportunity to help shape (pun completely intended) the finalized product.  Agents can go to www.ianker.com/ingress to vote on the design, shape, and performance of these Ingress branded batteries.

So whether you’re a dedicated Smurf, or you’re all about Toads, Anker wants your input on their new line of batteries.  The world around you may not be what it seems, but at least you’ll have the power to keep playing.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Anker, the leader in mobile power, and Google’s Niantic Labs have teamed up to create new customized external batteries based on the global location-based mobile game, Ingress. As part of the partnership, Ingress players, also known as “Agents,” will get a chance to vote and determine the design of the custom battery pack.

With more than nine million downloads across 200 countries and territories around the world, Ingress Agents can now rely on the sleek new design of the Ingress custom battery pack and the speed, quality and affordability of Anker’s power products.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized among the top power choices by the Ingress community,” said Jason Lin, director of marketing for Anker. “It was only natural for us to work with Niantic Labs to delight Ingress agents with a custom-made battery designed with the community in mind.”

The Ingress community will help to decide on unique batteries for the Enlightened and Resistance in-game factions. Ingress players will decide on the battery’s design, size, shape and performance for the faction-branded Anker external batteries. To vote click here:www.ianker.com/ingress

Like all Anker power products, the Ingress customized batteries will come equipped with PowerIQ technology to ensure the fastest possible charge, and it will be backed by the Anker’s industry-leading 18-month warranty.
