Two videos were released by Huawei on their YouTube channel today showing off their new smartwatch which has to have the nicest design of any Android Wear device I have seen.  The watch is simply named Huawei Watch and little is know about it but we can expect to see many more details about it at Mobile World Congress when they officially announce it.

UPDATE (03/01/2015): Huawei has officially announced the device.

“We have responded to consumers’ requests from around the world asking for a smartwatch featuring a timeless design that is truly smart from within. Through Huawei’s continued commitment to ‘Make It Possible,’ the Huawei Watch delivers on that promise and gives the consumer a premium smartwatch that is technologically innovative,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “As the first smartwatch in our expanding line of premium wearable products, the Huawei Watch was designed and created to enhance and be part of the consumer’s everyday lives.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

From the videos, one awkward advertisement of someone walking through the snowy wilderness to meet his friends on time, and the other of the story of the design of the watch from the executives point of view, we have very little to go off of at this point but we know one thing for certain – it is a gorgeous looking device.  The watch bands are interchangeable, the face is 42mm, and it has a sapphire glass surface like other premium watches.  The smartwatch runs on Android Wear and it also has a heartbeat sensor in it which is on par with other devices on the market.

The polished stainless steel unibody casing with the minimal bezel and the crown at the two o’clock position makes the watch look fantastic and very high end.  Pressing the crown will take you to the classic watch face which they have several different designs of to give you a choice of how you want the watch face to look.

I’m looking forward to having more details and specifics regarding the watch announced at Mobile World Congress to learn more about it.  A premium looking Android Wear device such as this should have many people in line to purchase it when it is released if the battery life and price point is in line with the other watches that are currently for sale.
