Cross-Buy Coming To Xbox One And Windows 10 Games

After speaking about how Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs will support cross-platform play back in January, Microsoft has added cross-buy support for games and apps on the Xbox One and Windows 10 devices.

Cross-buy allows you to purchase a game on the Xbox One and then play it on the PC as well without having to buy a separate copy. Not all games will support cross-buy as that will be up to the developers and publishers, and Pinball FX 2 will be the first game to support it. If you already own the Xbox One version, consider yourself lucky as you already own the unreleased Windows 10 version.

Microsoft’s vision for Windows 10 definitely includes the ability to make games on Windows 10 available no matter what device you’re accessing it from, whether it be a PC, tablet, smartphone or Xbox One console. Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox at Microsoft, said that

“this is the first time that all of Microsoft’s efforts in gaming will show up with one unified voice, with one unified vision around what we want to do and the impact we want to have on the games industry.”

So not only will certain games support cross-platform play, they may also follow a buy-once, play on Xbox or PC purchase model – sure to delight the wallets of gamers.
