Google Fiber TV Subscription Rates Jump Up By $10

Google Fiber Internet and Google Fiber TV services are still in their infancy and not even widely available as of yet but it is already seeing its first price increase. Users were able to buy both the Internet and TV bundle for $120 but that will increase for new subscribers to $130. Current subscribers need not worry as the price hike is only going to affect new subscribers. Google Fiber Internet subscribers are also in the clear as it’s only the TV end that is being affected and it will remain at $70.

“We’re increasing our (price) to continue making those investments,” a company spokesperson said in an email.

It’s unclear what kind of investment the increased price will bring to Google Fiber TV service but likely it’s to pay for rights to broadcast some popular channels it didn’t offer. The news that the Internet portion of the cost will remain the same is encouraging as most people who are excited for Google Fiber are cord cutters in the first place. With Google Fiber Internet offering up to gigabit speeds, it’s perfect for those who consume media online such as Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime and Plex. Let’s hope Google keeps the Internet side priced exactly where it is now. What do you think of the $10 hike of Google Fiber TV? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
