You may not be interested in buying an Apple Watch anytime soon or ever at all, but that’s not stopping Apple from letting you know you could. In their latest iOS 8.2 update Apple is installing the Apple Watch app on all iPhones and it cannot be uninstalled. No word on if the next U2 album will show up on your iTunes either but I wouldn’t be surprised.

That’s right, if you haven’t updated to iOS 8.2 be prepared for a shiny new icon to show up on your homescreen. The Apple Watch app is basically an advertisement at this point, once you buy a watch and connect it, the app becomes functional. Though if you never buy an Apple Watch, the app will continue to live on your iPhone and continue to be nothing more than an advertisement attempting to separate you from your money.
Of course the new iOS update includes yet another app you can’t delete. Magical. #AppleWatch

There are plenty of system apps that you can’t uninstall on iOS such as stocks, tips, voice memos and others. These have always been tolerated and accepted as part of the overall system, but Apple’s really shooting themselves in the foot on this one. One more app to take up space on a device that is not expandable. One more attempt at pulling money out of consumers pockets for (in this case) an overpriced gadget.
