Magic Leap Releases New Augmented Reality Video – Office Fight

|

Augmented reality has been on its way up recently. From Layar, one of the earlier forays into augmented reality, to the immensely popular augmented reality game Ingress, augmented reality has really come into the public view recently. Magic Leap, another company with ties to Google, on Thursday released a new video showing off some of their tech.

In the video, titled “Just another day in the office at Magic Leap,” an office worker starts their day just like everybody else: by docking a floating YouTube cat video next to their monitor before checking their Gmail. Admittedly, most of us don’t check Gmail on a floating envelope that pops into our field of view… yet. From there, our office worker wants to play a game, and really you should probably just check out the video to see the rest.

Pretty impressive stuff; it’s pretty evident why Google has taken an interest in the company. Magic Leap recently finished a round of funding, making a tidy sum of $542 million. Google was one of the primary investors in this funding. Some of the applications on Google products are pretty clear – Google already has a track record with augmented reality gaming, adding Magic Leap’s technology would be an obvious next step.

Magic Leap is putting all of that funding money to good use. They’re looking for a whole bunch of people to fill all sorts of positions on their page, aptly titled “Wizards Wanted.” Have you got what they’re looking for? Maybe you could help make the video above a reality.

What do you think? Will you be shooting virtual robots in your office anytime soon? Or is this technology still too far off? Let us know what you think in the comments below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
