Thinking about buying a new TV in the near future? Not only will you have choice around screen size, resolution and even the software you want to use; Recent announcements have said that you will soon start seeing a new button on your remote – one just for Netflix.
Netflix has signed a deal with several manufacturers to see a dedicated Netflix button on remotes all across Europe. This will enable a user to jump straight in to choosing their film, or going through the Netflix carousel – without any fuss.
“No more turning on the TV, going to a home screen and searching for the Netflix icon. With the Netflix one-click remote, it’s simply a matter of pushing the Netflix button to instantly watch any of the vast selection of TV shows and movies available to stream from Netflix.” Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt
Netflix has been working for quite a while to integrate its services into as much technology as possible. Wanting as many people to have access to its service as possible, working on integration with games consoles and smart TVs, along with smartphone and tablet apps.
“The new Netflix button on remotes in Europe makes watching Netflix as easy as changing the channel on traditional TV, allowing viewers to enjoy our great programming much quicker,” – Bill Holmes, head of business development for Netflix.
Specific remote button collaborations are commonplace in the US, however this is the first of its type in Europe. It will see not just TV’s but Blu-ray players and set top boxes from Panasonic, Phillips, Sony, Toshiba and Vestel. They are also working to improve the playback and navigation, with the aim of making Netflix as easy as watching live TV.
These will start appearing on all 2015 models, as well as an upgraded remote available for those itching to binge watch their favourite show.
