Even though the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens is months away, the hype train is in full swing. Twitter is the latest to jump on board and has partnered with Disney and Lucasfilm to offer up custom Star Wars emojis which are triggered by using various hashtags.
For now, the three released emojis are #C3P0, #Stormtrooper, and #BB8 (the cute little ball droid we first saw in the initial trailer months ago). By using the specific hashtag, the emoji will appear to the end of the tag and show up in your tweet. Twitter also indicated that even more Star Wars custom emojis will be released in the lead up to The Force Awakens and will include new characters as well as iconic characters that Star Wars fans have come to love and hate. Unfortunately, the hashtag emojis only appear to work in a browser or Twitter’s mobile app.
The emojis are being released in conjunction with the Star Wars Celebration going on today in Anaheim, California (which you can watch live on MOARGeek, our sister site).
So what do you think about these Star Wars emojis on Twitter? Which emojis do you hope they come out with next? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
