It’s not news that Sony has been struggling as of late with its mobile division. Even though they have an outstanding product with the Sony Xperia Z3, they can’t seem to generate the hype that’s needed to get users to switch over to their devices. That trend is seeming to continue as they have very quietly announced the Sony Xperia Z4 with a blog post on their Japanese site.
For those following the rumours of the Xperia Z4 launch, there aren’t many surprises and the Z4 looks pretty much like the Z3 with a few minor modifications. The speakers on the front of the device are now flush with the top and the bottom of the device, instead of being inset slightly below the edges. The Z4 will be slightly thinner at only 6.9mm thick and the front camera has been improved from 2.2MP to a 5MP 25mm wide angle camera while the rear camera remains at 20.7MP. Sony’s latest Xperia will utilize the Snapdragon 810 chipset, stay with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage with a 5.2″ 1080p display. Interestingly enough, the battery capacity has been slightly reduced to 2930 mAh from the 3100 mAh battery in the Xperia Z3.
Currently the Xperia Z4 is slated to launch in Japan this summer and will be available in black, white, copper, and an aqua green color. We’ve reached out to Sony and will keep you updated on pricing and international availability once we hear more.
