Reserve Strap is the brainchild of Lane Musgrave and John Arrow and uses the 6 pin port underneath the band slide of the Apple Watch to charge it while you wear it. The Reserve Strap contains a 400 mAh capacity Lithium-polymer battery cell within a silicone strap which will extend the battery life of your Apple Watch.

The initial thought was that the Apple Watch could charge from the strap through a magnetic inductive charging strap on your wrist which worked identically to how the Apple Watch is charged when plugged into a wall outlet. After looking at the final product, engineers determined that the 6 pin port can indeed be used for charging and the new concept design will utilize a retractable connector in order to charge the device. By utilizing the existing 6 pin port, the Reserve Strap is able to charge quicker and more efficiently and doesn’t interfere with any of the Apple Watch features like the heart rate and other sensors.

More design and technical details will be coming soon, and the strap will be available in both 38mm and 42mm sizes in White, Gray, or Black.
