My Five Favorite Android Icon And Theme Designers

|
,

So I’ve been kicking around the idea for awhile to write up an article containing some of my favorite icons and themes for Android. The problem is, it’s hard to narrow down my favorite Android icon packs or Android themes. So I decided to go a different route than most writers of such articles and present my five favorite Android icon and theme designers on the Google Playstore. Having been around the Android community for some time, starting on xda under the username Mortem Tuam and more recently interfacing with designers on Google+, I think I have a good opinion of quality design. So here we go, my five favorite Android icon and theme designers in no particular order as they are all equally talented.

Alex Miller

Alex’s designs are minimal, clean and light. His Influx icon pack is one of the nicest and the Playstore and his Pressor theme for CM11 is outstanding. Well worth checking out Alex’s work!

Travis Hall

Not Just Another Designer

Travis’s work came to my attention through Google+. He’s got a nice soft touch with lots of flat goodness to his work. I am particularly fond of his Elementary Icons and Phlat Theme for CM12.

Will Windham

Stealthychief

I’ve been using Will’s work for some time now, and he only gets better with time. His Devo icon pack is amazing and one I use frequently on my OPO. Will also does some very cool keyboard themes.

Jay Rod

Platyraptor Designs

Jay’s work is different from what current trends are and might not be to everyone’s taste, but I give the guy credit for going against the grain. His BSC CM12 theme is very dark and shiny. Well worth a look if you like that sort of thing.

Andre Zimmermann

Kohlewrrk

Andre is another new designer I’ve run across on Google+, and he’s making some wickedly beautiful stuff. Coalfield for CM12 looks awesome, and he’s someone to keep an eye on.

This list is not at all saying there aren’t other talented Android icon and theme designers out there. There are a ton and that’s why Android is fun to use. But this list will sure get you started if you’re overwhelmed by the amount of stuff out there and need a little guidance. Feel free to browse the Playstore and find other designers to choose from, but these five guys are some of the top picks on the store already. Have fun and happy customizing!
