Is One of Microsoft’s Unannounced Windows Phones A Samsung Galaxy Note Competitor?

Mobile / Windows Phone

One of the fun things about the tech industry is the constant rumours swirling around. It seems these days no company can keep unannounced devices completely under wraps, and it’s rare when a company releases a product that takes everyone by surprise. Various rumours surrounding Microsoft’s two upcoming Windows Phone devices have already begun circulating, and further “evidence” is coming to light.

The latest tidbit to surface is in the form of tracking information obtained by Zauba showing a single SIM and dual SIM variant of an unnamed 5.7″ device being shipped from Finland to India for testing on May 19th. Based on the pricing information attached, it indicates that these phones may not be flagship devices but a pair of mid-range Windows Phones.

While we treat all rumours here at Techaeris with a grain of salt, we’ve also received a tip that Microsoft is about to go head to head with Samsung. According to our source, a new Windows Phone device is due to be announced and will feature a 5.7″ screen (which we’ve seen rumoured a few times now) but will also come with an adapted pen from the Surface tablet devices. Coupled with the release of Windows 10 and Microsoft’s Universal Apps due out shortly, having multiple devices from phones to tablets and touchscreen computers that can support pen input will definitely be of interest to business customers and those focused on productivity.

We reached out to Microsoft for comment, and received the standard “we can’t comment on unannounced devices” response so at this time we’ll just have to sit back and wait and see how these rumours pan out. We’re fans of both the Galaxy Note 4 and some of the newer Windows Phones here at Techaeris, so this could be an interesting battle. Could you be enticed to pick up a 5.7″ Windows Phone Galaxy Note competitor? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
