Last week we reported that Google Play was starting to offer a Free App of the Week promotion in the new Family section of the Play Store.
At the time, it wasn’t clear if it was a one-time deal or if it would be continual thing going forward. With a new paid app being offered for free this week, it appears that for the time being this will be a feature in the Family section.
This week’s app is Toca Hair Salon 2 by Toca Boca AB. Geared toward the young budding stylist in your family, the game allows you to run your own hair salon, with six characters to choose from.
Cut hair, color and style hair any way you want, using lots of different hair styling tools – from a simple comb and scissors to a curling iron and a straightener. Trim mustaches, spray mohawks bright pink and give someone the curls they’ve always wanted!
Unlike a real life stylist, if you cut off too much hair the game has a special miracle elixir called G.R.O.W. to replace the hair. Then you can go on your merry way, snipping, teasing, combing, and top it all off with hats and glasses, according to the games description. Not sure if the provision of hats is their way of saying “not all haircuts work out all the time.”
It is important to note that just like last week’s free paid app download, you have to click on the “Free App” banner on the home page of the Family section in order to get the discount. Searching for the app by name will bring the app up at it’s normal paid price of $2.99.
I’m sure most of our readers are past the hair cutting stage, but perhaps some will have kids that want to scratch that urge to cut things. Doing it in an app is much better than real life, like practicing on the family dog.
