For those who frequent the Android Community, there’s one event that’s talked about in a revered tone. No it’s not Google’s technological Christmas-like (at least for Android enthusiasts) Google I/O, but rather the Big Android BBQ (BABBQ).

Starting off as a small barbecue for the Android enthusiast, the event has blossomed into something more with a number of different BABBQ events around the US. It looks like BABBQ will have to get its passport ready as it was announced that the Big Android BBQ will be traveling to Europe in the fall. The International Developer Education and Advocacy Alliance (IDEAA) announced that the event will be traveling to Amsterdam. The event will take after the original BABBQ in Texas but with a few modifications.

According to the IDEAA, like the original event, thought leaders and senior developers from across the globe will lead attendees in a number of sessions revolving around new strategies, analyzation of trends and the next big idea. However, these sessions will be separated in five more specialized tracks that will have a strong focus in certain areas.

The five tracks include:

  • “Hardcore Android” (advanced track)

  • “Android & Things” (IoT)

  • “Android and You” (anything goes)

  • “World of Android” (e.g. auto, med tech)

  • “Android & Humans” (design & interaction)

Like the original, the Amsterdam event will feature the signature Code Kitchen for those in attendance to put their newly-acquired skills to the test. In doing so, they may very well just win some big prizes by a number of sponsors.   Aaron Kasten, CEO and Founder of IDEAA is excited for the event and rightfully so. He had this to say:

“Amsterdam is a monumental stepping stone for the IDEAA team. We’re making great progress in our never-ending mission to empower developers of all levels by taking our events across the globe. We can wait to share these moments with the attendees in Europe, because it will truly be an experience that we will never forget.”

The IDEAA, in conjunction with Google Developers and Dutch Android User Group & Startup Amsterdam, is working on delivering an awesome event, so if you’re traveling to the area or live in that neck of the woods, it may be worth looking into. Those of you who need more information or would like to register for the event, you can do all of that by going here.
