The date many Xbox One users have been waiting for has been announced. In a Tweet last night, Xbox announced that the New Xbox One Experience, or NXOE, will be rolling out on November 12th.

For those not familiar with the NXOE, it is a dashboard update for the Xbox One that is based on Windows 10. First and foremost, a speedier dashboard experience is at the top of the list of improvements, and the new dashboard design is a lot easier to navigate using a controller with frequently used features being more accessible.

We’ve been testing out the NXOE as part of the preview program and, after you get used to the radically different interface, it definitely is faster and it’s easier to access your friends, start parties, launch games, and more. The Xbox team has been working hard on fixing all the bugs and responding to feedback from those in the NXOE preview program, and with each update it is feeling like it is getting closer to being ready for launch. The team obviously agrees and has pegged November 12th as the date the NXOE will be rolling out.

Also included in the NXOE will be the public launch of the Backward Compatibility program which will allow gamers to play select Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One at no additional charge for games they already own. While there are only a handful of games that are backwards compatible, over a hundred titles are slated to be available at launch. Xbox has also announced that starting in November, all free Xbox 360 Games With Gold offerings will be backwards compatible, effectively giving gamers four free games per month for the Xbox One.
