There’s nothing worse than hitting up Google Maps to find directions to your favourite restaurant and store, hop into your vehicle, drive there… and find out it’s closed. Google is changing that by adding holiday hours to Google Maps and Search.
We’ve added holiday hours to Maps and Search, so when you search for a business and a major holiday is within the next seven days, you’ll see whether the business has a special holiday schedule. Not only will you avoid showing up to find the doors locked, but you’ll save time by not having to call the business or check the website for hours.
If you search for a business, you’ll see at a glance what hours they are open on the holiday, or better yet, if they’re closed. If the business hasn’t listed holiday hours, you’ll see a message alerting you that the hours may not be accurate due to the holiday. You’ll even be able to filter your results by choosing the “Open Now” filter to only see places that are open on that particular holiday.
Unlike many Google updates, this one is rolling out globally so it shouldn’t matter where you are in the world, you’ll see specific information for the country you are in.
