Three UK Customers Gifted Six Months Free Deezer Subscription

If you are a Three network customer or thinking about moving to the network, you can get a six months free subscription to the music streaming service Deezer.

Deezer’s userbase is substantially smaller to the kings of the music streaming business Spotify, Google Play Music, and Apple Music, but the service has been around for years. Deezer backed out of an IPO last month, but claims it’s “well funded and well positioned” to start growing again. However this won’t be easy for the service given the competition in this area.

The likes of Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play Music are now the competition for Deezer to beat, but other services such as Rdio, Tidal and many other streaming services are competing for free and paying users. The company has had success with teaming up with networks before. Deezer teamed up with the French network provider Orange, to grow the services user base.

As of last June, the service had 1.5 million subscribers, with an additional 1.5 million from teaming up with Orange in France on their “active bundle.” Deezer also has another 3.3 million inactive subscribers, meaning that they do not use or pay for the service regularly.

With the competition in this area, Deezer’s team up with Three makes total sense. Spotify is currently running a campaign with Vodafone with a similar deal. Three customers are most likely to use the service if it is free for a substantial amount of time. The only concern is that Deezer is just another typical music streaming service, it does not stand out from the crowd.

The only issue with the offer is that after the six month trial period is over, a £9.99 monthly bill will be added to the already existing plan, which will cause problems with customers who did not know that the six month service ended or was charged afterwards.
