Alan Rickman is one of the great actors of our time and we just lost him at age 69. The family of the British actor confirmed that Rickman passed away in London of cancer. Rickman has been a brilliant actor for a long time but like any actor he was known for a few key roles. The role of Hans Gruber in Die Hard was by far my favorite character Rickman played. He really turned his supporting role into a starring role and he elevated Bruce Willis that much more because of it. In many ways Rickman carried Die Hard ir?source=bk&t=techaeris 20&bm id=default&l=ktl&linkId=a4264d38d2e4a4babfb979475a61954f& cb=1452776294591to huge success even though Willis was billed the “star.”

Rickman also played the role of Professor Snape in the Harry Potterir?source=bk&t=techaeris 20&bm id=default&l=ktl&linkId=a35de8a24bdcb9dfb6d4f2f3534f7b11& cb=1452776307781 series and as we reflect back, there was no one else who could have pulled that role off as well as he did. The Snape role lasted a crazy 10 years and every Potter film was great because of it. Rickman wasn’t afraid to take on all sorts of roles as he threw himself into the sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. But the man was far more versed than the major roles most of us know him for and that’s what made him a brilliant actor. Having the ability to pull off major Hollywood blockbuster roles and still maintain his artistry of acting in other not so blockbuster movies.

The man has been in so much more than any of us really know, for a great write up and more history be sure to hit the source link. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family as the whole world collectively mourns the loss of Alan Rickman.
