UAG Trooper – UAG Glass Review: Armor For Your iPhone

|
,

I generally start out these iPhone case reviews by stating how inundated the case market is and that’s still 100% true. But I’m going to deviate a little bit from how I normally review stuff because while there are hundreds of choices of cases on the market. And there are a couple of handfuls of really awesome case makers out there, UAG manages to be a cut above the rest. Since I discovered UAG they’ve been my favorite case maker and used exclusively when I’m not testing other cases. In this review we take a look at the UAG Trooper for iPhone 6s Plus and UAG’s Glass Shield screen protector.

UAG Trooper

UAG Trooper

Design

I love UAG design. Its rugged military look is a look most men will love and some women just might dig it too. The Trooper is well built with great inner impact absorption and superior corner bumpers that are made to take nasty falls. While not the extreme bulky protection of an Otterbox, UAG manages to give you way better than nominal protection in a slim profile. One of the best features UAG implements in its cases is button response. Many case manufacturers fail at giving the buttons a good tactile feedback but UAG has consistently gotten this small detail right. The raised lip on the front of the case is a nice touch offering extra protection. The card storage does add a little more bulk to the phone, my other UAG case without the card holder is nice and slim, but the card storage is part of the reason why you would buy this anyway.

Installation

Very simple. Slide your iPhone in volume rocker side first and gently pop the phone into place.

Protection

Not Otterbox style protection but also not as ugly and bulky as the Otterbox. The card storage area actually gives the phone even more protection than the normal UAG case but does make it a bit bigger. The front raised lip gives great front glass protection and the corners are well protected for corner impact drops. The lining of the case has impact absorption built in that takes the energy from those hard drops. Overall protection is more than nominal but not quiet heavy duty.

Price/Value

Priced at $44.95, the UAG Trooper is worth every cent.

Wrap Up

UAG makes amazing cases and the Trooper series is no exception, with the added card storage it makes your wallet a thing of the past.

UAG Glass Shield

Design

There’s not to much you can say about a piece of glass, it’s well made and I normally don’t say this but I love the UAG branding on the front.

Installation

Take your time and make sure you align things right. The shield is forgiving but don’t mess around and get it right the first time. I recommend lining up the home button first and then laying it down. Force touch also works flawlessly.

Protection

Great protection for the front of your iPhone, glass shields are the best screen protectors.

Price/Value

Priced at $39.95 some people might shy away, I think it’s totally worth the cost.

Wrap Up

A great buy, goes perfect with the UAG Trooper. Take your time installing, when done right it will be bubble free.
