An open-world sandbox survival game with a focus on competitive multiplayer modes will be launching both closed and open betas starting later this month. The Infestation World closed beta will run from March 28th through April 3rd, followed by the open beta which starts on April 6th. In addition, the developer of the game, Electronics Extreme, has announced the Infestation World Championship set to take place in Q3 of this year in Thailand.

“We’re very eager to include more players in our community by launching Infestation worldwide,” said Thanin Piromward, CEO, Electronics Extreme. “We can’t wait to watch the strongest players face off in our new competitive game modes.”

When players aren’t battling zombie hordes and each other in Infestation World‘s expansive map, they can earn in-game prizes through two competitive multiplayer game types in Battle Mode. Both reward coordinated teamwork, making Battle Mode a natural proving ground for eSports competitors.

  1. Time Attack – the team with the most kills after a match with unlimited respawns is declared the winner. This game type encourages an aggressive style of play with bold, risky strategies.
  2. Team Deathmatch – a classic setup where each player only has one life per match. Team Deathmatch encourages conservative strategies, as hasty, miscalculated moves can quickly leave a player dead and teammates at a disadvantage for an entire match.

Over the course of the next few months, regional qualifiers will be held across the United States, Europe, Asia, and other regions with the regional champions meeting to complete for an as of yet undetermined prize pool at the Infestation World Championship later this year. The prize pool will be funded from in-game purchases.

Since taking over what was previously known as War Z, Electronics Extreme has addressed issues like frame rate inconsistencies and cheating, as well as the introduction of new content and storyline. Another game mode is planned for later this year as well. In War System, large-scale battles will take place between clans with an emphasis on teamwork and reliance on personal gear as they fight to capture a village’s central control point.

In the meantime, check out the new trailer for Infestation World‘s Battle Mode, and head on over the site for more information on the upcoming betas and the Infestation World Championship taking place later this year in Thailand.
