Marco Polo Returns To Netflix In July With Second Season

If you haven’t watched the first season of Marco Polo on Netflix, you’ve got a bit of time to catch up before season 2 hits the streaming service on July 1st. The tagline for the second season is “An Empire Will Burn” and the date announcement teaser definitely plays that up.

The series takes us back to 13th century China, in a world replete with greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue, and rivalry — and is perhaps one of Netflix’s most underrated shows. Marco Polo stars Lorenzo Richelmy (Marco Polo), Michelle Yeoh (the Handmaiden), Benedict Wong (Kublai Khan), Joan Chen (Empress Chabi), Zhu Zhu (Kokachin), Tom Wu (Hundred Eyes), Olivia Cheng (Mei Lin), Claudia Kim (Khutulun), Rick Yune (Kaidu), Remy Hii (Prince Jingim), Mahesh Jadu (Ahmad) and Uli Latukefu (Byamba) among others.

Hopefully we’ll get a better look at the 10-episode second season before July 1st, but in the meantime it might be a good time to fire up season one again, or for the first time if you haven’t already!
