With the highly anticipated DOOM launch just around the corner on May 13th, Thrustmaster has teamed up with Bethesda and id Software to launch a pair of DOOM edition headsets.

First up, Thrustmaster will release a special DOOM edition of their Y-300CPX headset for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The second is a new product with a few interesting features. The Y-350X 7.1 Powered DOOM Edition Active Bass Gaming Headset is officially licensed for Xbox One and Windows, and includes a Y Power Pack and the Y Sound Commander. As Thrustmaster puts it, the Y-350X is “more than just a headset, it’s a complete arsenal for relentless combat!”

The headphones themselves feature ultra-large 60mm drivers combined with boosted bass, allowing gamers to experience the full intensity of combat. The memory foam ear pads provide total comfort and sound isolation, while the AM3D technology used by Thrustmaster allows for 7.1 virtual sound that lets you know exactly where everything is on the battlefield, so you can react accordingly.

Thrustmaster has worked on the headset’s frequency response range, adjusting and optimizing it in an anechoic chamber. The goal was to let users experience a gaming environment with incredibly vivid bass response, while at the same time allowing them to understand this hostile world by way of details that only the Y-350X’s 7.1 sound spatialization, audio power and perfectly-calibrated medium and treble frequencies can provide – thereby enhancing gamers’ precision and agility.

In addition, the adjustable unidirectional microphone — which also happens to be detachable — has been designed by Thrustmaster to target only the user’s voice, guaranteeing optimized, high-performance communication.

The Y Sound Commander is used with an Xbox One Wireless Controller, and allows gamers to enable or disable virtual 7.1 sound, and control volume, bass, and chat level settings without having to put down their controllers. As well as the backlit real-time volume indicators, the Y Sound Commander also features a built-in sound card for optimal sound.

The Y Power Pack does exactly what it sounds like — it powers the Y-350X headset so you’re not drawing power from your controller, and gamers can play and charge the headset at the same time for uninterrupted gameplay.

The Y-350X gaming headset has an MSRP of $149.99USD and the special DOOM edition of the best-selling Y-300CPX headset has an MSRP of $59.99USD. Both headsets will launch on 13 May alongside the game.
