ABC Scaling Back On Marvel, Cancels Agent Carter

ABC announced quite a few cancellations yesterday, and unfortunately two Marvel series were caught in the fallout. While Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been enjoying some success on the cable network, Marvel’s Agent Carter didn’t fare as well in its second season. After falling 46% among adults 18-49 compared to the first season, ABC has decided to give the show the axe. It probably didn’t help that the show’s second season wasn’t as grabbing as the first season, or that it was a midseason show which aired in the late spring.

Also getting the axe was the anticipated Marvel’s Most Wanted. After departing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood — who played agents Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter respectively — were expected to get their own spinoff. Apparently ABC has decided not to proceed at this time with Marvel’s Most Wanted due to mixed reviews on the pilot. The fate of the spinoff is up in the air as the show has already gone through one redevelopment.

For the time being, it seems that Marvel’s TV universe is better suited for Netflix as the Marvel shows there, like Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones, have been rather well received.

What do you think about ABC’s decision to axe both Marvel’s Agent Carter and Marvel’s Most Wanted? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
