Rumor: iPhone 7 May Have 256GB Of Storage

If you’re a lover of mass amounts of video, pictures and music on your smartphone, then Apple may be giving you 256GB of storage on the iPhone 7. The current maximum storage you can get on the iPhone is 128GB — which isn’t anything to sneeze at. But doubling the storage to 256GB (minus the operating system of course) is sure going to give people plenty of wiggle room to capture moments without having to worry about space.

CNET reports their source also says to expect the same size screens from Apple, 4.7″ and 5.5″. The source also says the Plus model will get a RAM boost to 3GB, but the regular model will remain with 2GB of RAM. CNET also reports that despite rumors, Apple will not be moving to an AMOLED display but will continue to use the IPS displays in the new iPhones. Also rumored is that the iPhone 7 will feature a dual camera on the back.

Rumors are also circulating that Apple will finally double the minimum storage capacity of their iPhones to 32GB finally killing the 16GB variant. If that is true, it’s been a long time coming and Apple should have done it two models ago. Storage is always an issue for users of 16GB phones especially since the operating system consumes up to 5GB of that storage.

Having 256GB of storage on hand is going to be useful for many people but the price point may not be so easy to stomach. While it is nice, 64GB is usually a good amount for the average user with heavy video, photo and music users should opt for the 128GB or 256GB. But then again these are all rumors, so we shall see if this actually happens.
