During today’s ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League Season 3 finals, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios revealed the first gameplay trailer for Injustice 2, the sequel to the hit fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. Unveiled during the livestream of today’s finals, the trailer showcases classic fan favorites Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, as well as introducing new villains Actrocitus and Gorilla Grodd.

As you can see by the gameplay trailer above, Injustice 2 promises that every victory, every defeat, and every battle defines you, alluding to the new RPG-like system NetherRealm mentioned previously. The gear system in Injustice 2 will follow RPG-like mechanics and players will be rewarded with character-specific loot drops every time they play the game which will not only change the look of each character, but will also change fighting strategies — and I’m pretty sure we got a glimpse of that mid-trailer with Gorilla Grodd, Actrocitus, and Batman.
Injustice 2 is currently in development by NetherRealm Studios, and features a massive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and allows players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favorite DC characters. The game will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.
