Here it comes folks! One of the movies I’ve been waiting for since the first one came out in 1996, Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters Friday! In some people’s opinion Independence Day (1996) isn’t the greatest when it comes to special effects. But even by today’s standards I think the film holds up pretty well and it remains one of my favorite sci-fi films of all time. Not only was the story great but the cinematography, effects, and acting was all top notch in the first film. Bill Pullman as POTUS wasn’t something I thought could be done but his speech in Independence Day remains one of the best moments in that movie. We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
The movie looks amazing, and while I probably won’t be making it to the theater this weekend, I am hoping to catch this as soon as possible. We hope one of our staff might go and watch it and bring back a spoiler free review so keep your eyes on the site.
