Fire up the rumor mill and stoke the fire folks. The latest is that the iPhone 7 will come in Space Black and not in the previously thought Midnight Blue. Generally I would let a rumor like this fly by, we never wrote up the Midnight Blue rumor, but this one has my attention. I have to admit the Midnight Blue idea sounded half decent but not exciting. 9to5 Mac is reporting that Macotakara’s sources say the previous information about the blue color was inaccurate. 9to5 Mac admits that the source Macotakara is using has zero track record on rumors. They did trace the source’s IP address and are quasi justifying the rumor because the address traces back near Apple HQ.
The source is also claiming the home button will have haptic feedback, likely Force Touch, much like the MacBook. If you’re familiar with the MacBook track pad you’ll know it doesn’t actually move but feels like it does.
Back to the Space Black iPhone though. While this rumor is completely unsubstantiated and the source is shaky at best. Just the thought of a Space Black iPhone is pretty awesome. I can imagine it will look much like the Google Nexus 6P which is an amazing phone itself.
We’re not going to know much until September but it is sometimes fun to unpack these rumors and speculate. I didn’t write or talk much about the blue version of an iPhone 7 because Space Black is so much sexier.
