The next Galaxy Note may have an iris scanner

Using your fingerprint as a way to unlock a device is so last year. Rumors running around the mill are saying that the next Galaxy Note may have an iris scanner, which would be pretty great. Maybe that will make us think we can finally unlock something with our eyes like in the movies. This will definitely be more secure than our fingerprints which can be left just about anywhere.

Famous tech leaker Evan Blass has taken to his Twitter account and let the world know that the new Note device will come with an iris scanner. No doubt this will be pretty cool if Samsung can get this right, but it’ll need to be accurate, fast, and able to scan one’s eye without complications.

So far the rumors have told us that the next Note will not be called the Galaxy Note 6, but the Galaxy Note 7 to keep in line with the S7 series. There will be two variants: one with an edge and one without. Evan Blass seems to have confirmed even more specs that would make the device even more appealing. The display will be a 5.7 inch AMOLED screen with QHD resolution. The phone will have 64GB of internal storage (base model?) and a microSD card slot for more storage. Shooters will include a 12 megapixel rear facing camera and 5 megapixel front facing camera. The phone should also carry an IP68 rating to make the phone water and dust resistant. The phone is reported to come in black, silver, or blue for color options.

Please make sure you take these rumors with a grain of salt for the time being until the device is officially announced by Samsung, but that are your thoughts about using your eyes to unlock your device? Think it may be a gimmick? Let us know by leaving your comments down below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
