After posting teaser images of a new weapon and scheduling a panel at SDCC 2016 to discuss details on a new character, Blizzard has unveiled its first additional hero to their first person shooter, Overwatch. Here’s the official origin story short:

Introducing Ana Amari

As previously speculated, the newest member of Overwatch is actually one of its founding members: Ana Amari. Originally one of the best sharpshooters in the world, Ana’s demise came in the form of Widowmaker. Ana was tasked with killing Widowmaker but hesitated when Widow didn’t. Ana recovered in secret while the world thought she was dead. After much reflection she decided to return. Her job to protect her daughter — Pharah — and her home is not finished yet.

Ana joins the support list with abilities that include:

Biotic Rifle – Ana’s rifle shoots darts that can restore health to her allies or deal ongoing damage to her enemies. She can use the rifle’s scope to zoom in on targets and make highly accurate shots.

Sleep Dart – Ana fires a dart from her sidearm, rendering an enemy unconscious (though any damage will rouse them).

Biotic Grenade – Ana tosses a biotic bomb that deals damage to enemies and heals allies in a small area of effect. Affected allies briefly receive increased healing from all sources, while enemies caught in the blast cannot be healed for a few moments.

Nano Boost – After Ana hits one of her allies with a combat boost, they temporarily move faster, deal more damage, and take less damage from enemies’ attacks.

Ana is currently rocking 60 like a BAMF. She’s also introducing a new mechanic of sniper healing to an already diverse list of heroes. Blizzard has not released information on when Ana will be available to play. Check out the gameplay trailer below!
