Design

A wall charger shouldn’t be horribly big, and the iClever BoostCube falls into line with typical sizing here. The charger comes in white, with sides that are square, just over two inches per side. The entire charger is just over one inch thick for a compact charger that is easy to toss in a bag, pocket, or anywhere else you might need an extra charger.

The front of the charger has the USB-C input as well as an oval-shaped blue LED. This LED is lit whenever the charger is plugged in, so you may not want to use it in your bedroom if extra light bothers you. A small piece of electrical tape or something similar should take care of the extra light though if it truly bothers you.

The back of the charger features a folding plug, allowing for the plug to nest inside the body of the charger for easier storage and transport. The sides are emblazoned with the iClever logo and name, while the bottom has the typical legal information, including model numbers, FCC filings, and other regulatory information. The top is a plain white surface with no other markings or functions.

Ease of Use

I’m confident that the BoostCube USB-C charge should pose little challenge in its operation. Simply unfold the plug, plug the charger into an AC outlet, and plug in any USB-C cable. You’ll need to supply your own cables here, but you’ll be able to use any USB-C cables you may already have laying around, or you can take a look at some of our other reviews if you need some cable inspiration. From there, simply plug your device into the other end of the USB-C cable, and you’re charging.

Performance

If you’re an Android user and have a USB-C device, the words you want to see on your device when charging are “Charging Rapidly.” I’m happy to report that you will get those magical words with this charger. You’ll charge at least as fast as your stock charger here. iClever has also included some added benefits to give you peace of mind in the form of overcurrent, short-circuit, and over-temperature protections.

Price/Value

With a normal price of $49, this charger might not seem like the most attractive option. Thankfully, there’s what appears to be a permanent sale price over on Amazon for a much more reasonable $24.99. This brings it more in line with other similar chargers.

If you’re looking for an extra USB-C wall charger for the office, for travel, or for any other use, the iClever BoostCube USB-C is one you should definitely check out. Its compact size and fast charging make it a good option for a back up charger.
