American Gods trailer released at Comic Con

The San Diego Comic Con always has exciting reveals, this year was no exception. If you are a Neil Gaiman fan, the exciting reveal came in the way of the American Gods teaser trailer. here it is:

Shadow Moon, played by Ricky Whittle, is a convict who is released early. Unfortunately he finds out that his wife Laura Moon, played by Emily Browning, has died. He meets a man called Mr. Wednesday, played by Ian McShane, who enlists Shadow as a bodyguard. Mr. Wednesday also knows much more about Shadow’s life than he lets on at first. The world Shadow returns to is very strange and it’s clear in the trailer he’s struggling with how to reconcile it all.

In the book, gods and mythological creatures exist only to the extent that people believe in them. The story centers around a war between old gods and new gods that reflect “America’s obsessions with media, celebrity, technology, and drugs, among other things.”

Gillian Anderson joins the cast as Media with Dane Cook as Robbie, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Crispin Glover as Mr. World, Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis, Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy, and also just revealed at SDCC Kristin Chenoweth as Easter. Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) is at the helm of American Gods and even Neil Gaiman has been very active in the creation process.

Currently the series is filming with confirmed locations in Oklahoma and Wisconsin. That doesn’t confirm that historic locations Wisconsin’s House on the Rock and Georgia’s Rock City will be included this season, but doesn’t mean they won’t. STARZ currently has January 2017 listed as the premiere date. With this being the first trailer, more information is bound to come and hopefully very soon.

Are you looking forward to American Gods? Do you think the series will be just as good, if not better, than the book? Hit us up in the comments!
