Android N update could drop on Nexus devices August 22nd

For you patient Nexus users who aren’t rocking the developer version of Nougat your day may be near. Telus, one of Canada’s main carriers, has posted their Android N update schedule and it shows August 22nd as the day both the Nexus 6P and 5X get their Android N update. Telus posted the update schedule which is proprietary to their devices but that being said, Nexus devices are usually updated around the same time regardless of carrier. So it’s entirely possible that anyone who owns a Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X may see a prompt to update to Android Nougat as soon as August 22nd.

Google usually rolls the updates out in waves so your Android N update may not fall until a day or two after. But the point here is, Android N is just around the corner, literally.  If Telus users are getting the update, we’re crossing fingers that everyone will see the update. Telus does provide a disclaimer that dates are subject to change so you never know if Google pulls the update at the last moment that means not even Telus users will get it.

Judging from early reactions from users of the beta version of Android N, this should be a pretty nice update for Android users who actually get the update. You’ll have to remember, if you’re using anything other than a Nexus, you’ll likely be waiting a bit longer than Nexus users for the update. Samsung, HTC, LG, and Motorola will all role their updates out at whatever date they choose, usually well after the Nexus update. Furthermore, your particular device may or may not be eligible to be updated, that’s totally up to the OEM as to which devices get updated.

Do you think the Android N update will drop on the 22nd? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
