Halo Warthog coming to Forza Horizon 3

If the impressive car list wasn’t enough to get you to pre-order the upcoming Forza Horizon 3 game, perhaps this latest tidbit of news will: the Halo Warthog is coming to the game! Over the past few weeks, Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios have been unveiling the full car list, and in addition to announcing that the game has gone gold, have released the latest special addition to the roster.

The 2554 AMG Transport Dynamics M12S Warthog CST is a civilian transport alternative to its militaristic cousin, the M12 Force Application Vehicle. What it may lack in brute force – you won’t find a turret on this version – it more than makes up for with its 720 bhp twin turbo V8, making it significantly faster than its FAV counterpart. The Warthog CST in Forza Horizon 3 is also ideally suited for the rough and tumble landscape of Australia. With the most advanced suspension in Forza Horizon 3 (with more than 70 cm of suspension travel), plus advanced dampening, you won’t find the combination of power and stability like this anywhere else in the Horizon Festival.

Not everyone will be able to get the Warthog, as a free download code for gamers who have played either Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One will be sent out the week of September 5th. Don’t fret if you haven’t though, as there will be a special event in October where players will have a chance to earn the Warthog.

The full list of Xbox Live Achievements has also been posted, and you’ll be able to earn them on both Xbox One or Windows 10 platforms with the new cross-play capabilities. For those who are going to be playing on PC, the recommended specifications have also been released:

  • CPU: i7 3820 @ 3.6GHz
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 970 or NVIDIA GTX 1060/AMD R9 290X or AMD RX 480
  • VRAM: 4GB
  • RAM: 12GB
  • Hard Drive Type: HDD
  • Available Space: 55 GB
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Windows Version: Windows Anniversary Edition 64-bit 14393.101

Unfortunately racing wheel support won’t be ready at launch, but Turn 10 indicated that we should be looking for an update on wheel support in Forza Horizon 3 on Windows 10 in an upcoming story in the future.

Forza Horizon 3 will be available on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs on September 27th (September 23rd for those who purchase the Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition). Are you looking forward to being able to race around the Australian outback in your very own Halo Warthog? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
