Brazzers forums hacked, nearly 800,000 subscribers’ details leaked

One day, you’re just chatting on a forum with some like-minded individuals about your favorite… we’ll just say… performers, and the next thing you know your login credentials, e-mail address, and more get released publicly, showing just how big of a… fan… you are. That’s the reality that a large number of users who have signed up for the popular adult website Brazzers have found themselves in today. The breach, which seems to have originated from the Brazzers Forum, has affected nearly 800,000 users.

Motherboard was able to verify the details of the leak, and even contacted several of the affected users. Said one user:

It’s unfortunate that my information was included in the breach, but that’s the risk you run making an account anywhere on the web

Another user suggested that they used a throwaway login and password in preparation for this exact type of event, which is certainly one way to avoid potential embarrassment in this type of situation. Since the breach originated in the forums, it’s entirely possible that even more personal information could have been stolen. If the Brazzers site itself had been hacked, sure, someone might find out that you’ve created an account there. Some might be a bit embarrassed about that. With the forums though, if posting history or private messages were compromised, that could be significantly more than anybody might really want known about themselves.

In a statement to Motherboard, Brazzers Public Relations Manager, Matt Stevens said:

This matches an incident which occurred in 2012 with our ‘Brazzersforum,’ which was managed by a third party. The incident occurred because of a vulnerability in the said third party software, the ‘vBulletin’ software, and not Brazzers itself.

That being said, users’ accounts were shared between Brazzers and the ‘Brazzersforum’ which was created for user convenience. That resulted in a small portion of our user accounts being exposed and we took corrective measures in the days following this incident to protect our users.

Are you a Brazzers user (you don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to)? Are you surprised to see this type of leak? Tell us what you think in the comment section below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
