Light painting is a way of creating some really cool effects and messages with photography. PABLO is a new app that is releasing today that makes light painting easy with your smartphone by combining a still image with long exposure.
If you’re unfamiliar with light painting, it is a photographic technique where the exposures are made by moving a light source or object (flashlights, headlights, sparklers, fireworks, etc.) while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera , or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Light painting, or light art, can make for some really creative photographs.
With PABLO, a user can start an exposure, move lights around, and then stop the exposure resulting in a high-res video and frozen still photograph. No flashlight? Capture light trails from passing vehicles or other light sources, and if someone else is around with the PABLO app, you can use the lights that are provided within the app itself.
How is PABLO different than other photo apps?
- PABLO is the only lightpainting/long exposure app created by professional lightpainters. With its patent pending “live view” camera technology, you can watch as lightpainting images/videos are created right before your eyes…something that has never been done before.
- PABLO has an in app community feed with a never ending gallery featuring PABLO artists from around the world. Need inspiration? This is where you’ll find it.
- PABLO allows users to create lightpainting videos by uploading existing videos from their photo library. Any lights in the video will freeze to create magnificent light trails.
- Filters vs. Technique. In a world of filter apps, PABLO represents a new direction: Technique.
PABLO for iOS is currently available as a free download, and PABLO for Android will be released later this year. What do you think about PABLO? Have you tried it yet? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
