Whether it’s on consoles or PC, gamers are looking to get a leg up on the competition any way they can. The new SteelSeries Rival 500 is a multi-button gaming mouse that was designed from the ground up, focusing on increased efficiency, accuracy, and performance based on gamer’s thumb and hand movements.

“The Rival 500 is the first true multi-button gaming mouse engineered to maximize gaming efficiency, while keeping the gamers movement and comfort in mind,” said Ehtisham Rabbani, SteelSeries CEO. “We created a MOBA/MMO mouse that fits your hand and not the other way around.”

Featuring an intuitive design, tactile alerts, and maximizing personalization, the Rival 500 is sure to help MMO and MOBA gamers especially get ahead of their rivals. In addition to replacing squeezed buttons in a grid format with a new side-button layout, the Rival 500 also incorporates gaming’s first flick down switches, the fastest way to make a move since it responds to your thumbs natural flick motion instead of having to press it.

Tactile alerts can be customized to allow gamers to feel in-game events and alerts. These subtle pulses can notify gamers when cooldowns are up, ammo is out, health is low, or any other action occurs, allowing them to react more quickly to in-game events. The Rival 500 is equipped with the Pixart 3360 optical sensor, offering up to 16,000 CPI, and also offers personalization of all 15 buttons and changing LED colors and lighting effects with the SteelSeries Engine application.

The SteelSeries Rival 500 is now will be available for $79.99/€89.99, and appears to have been delayed until October 21st. What do you think about the SteelSeries Rival 500? Are you going to be picking one up? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
