Nikon looks to take on GoPro with KeyMission lineup

Nikon is gearing up to take on action camera companies like GoPro with their new lineup of action cams named, KeyMission. Nikon of course is a household name when it comes to DSLR’s and point and shoot cameras. The company, along with Canon, have been a cornerstone for modern photography and a trusted name to boot.

Nikon is now looking to dip their feet into the world of action photography and from the looks of the KM lineup, they’ve at least got great hardware to have a go at it. The KM 360 is the flagship of the lineup giving you full, immersive 360° video. Dropping down to the KM 170 gives you a super-wide 170° angle-of-view, f/2.8 lens, and 8.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, while the KM80  is the smallest offering but still offers up a 12-megapixel CMOS sensor and 25mm (80° angle-of-view) f/2.0 lens. In addition, 4K video is available on the larger versions while the smaller gets only 1080p.

Previewed at CES 2016, the rugged KeyMission 360 is the first Nikon camera capable of full 360° video in 4K UHD, providing users a unique way to create engaging content like never before. Also introduced today is the new Nikon KeyMission 170, an adventure-ready camera capable of amazing stills and 4K UHD video at a wide-angle point of view, as well as Nikon’s KeyMission 80, a compact and lightweight camera for capturing the spontaneous moments of everyday life.
