It’s that time again to see what’s new on Netflix Canada. October sees the return of The Ranch, a few new original series, plenty of new films (including the merc with a mouth), and more! Check out the sizzle teaser above, or read on to find out what’s new and returning to Netflix Canada next month. If you’re in the U.S., you can check out what’s new on Netflix for October as well!

Netflix Original Series

New episodes of From Dusk Til Dawn‘s third season continue to roll out, starting on October 5th. The second part of the first season of The Ranch, which stars Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson returns on October 7th. The Bennett men ponder the future of the ranch as Colt and Beau wrestle with conflicted feelings about the women in their lives.

The second season of the anime Kuromukuro hits the streaming service on October 10th. In this season, the mystery deepens when a new antagonist appears who will stop at nothing to kill Ken. But she looks just like the princess he’s sworn to protect.

Two new series get their debut seasons on Netflix with Haters Back Off! coming on October 14th, with Glitch following the next day on October 15th. Haters Back Off! is based on the character created by Colleen Ballinger-Evans, and delves into the oddball family life of Miranda Sings, an incredibly confident, totally untalented star on the rise who continues to fail upward by the power of her belief that she was born famous, it’s just no one knows it yet.

In Glitch, a police officer and a doctor face an emotionally charged mystery when six local residents inexplicably return from the dead in peak physical form. The new series debut continues on October 21st with Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories which is about a small eatery called Meshyia, and is open only from midnight to 7am. A menagerie of customers flock to the Midnight Diner, where the bonds among the Master, his food, and the patrons set the stage for humorous and sometimes wistful episodes of human drama that feed both the belly and the soul.

Late last year, Netflix picked up the Black Mirror series, and part 1 of season 3 hits on October 21st as well. An anthology series, Black Mirror taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.

Rounding out October, the trio known as the Trailer Park Boys head overseas in Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park: Europe on October 28th, and the first season of the Netflix Original Chewing Gum debuts on October 31st.

Upcoming Chelsea guests for October include Connie Britton, Priyanka Chopra, Jennifer Connelly, Miley Cyrus, Ava Duvernay, Kevin Hart, Taylor Lautner, Tyler Perry, Hilary Swank, Meghan Trainor, and more.

Netflix Original Films

Five Netflix Original Films are coming to the streaming service in October as well, starting with The Siege of Jadotville on October 7th. This true story tells of a 150-member Irish U.N. battalion defending a Congolese mining town against an assault by 3,000 soldiers and mercenaries.

Justin Timberlake comes to Netflix on October 12th in Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids. This Netflix Original Film showcases the entertainer’s final date of his 20/20 Experience World Tour at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Surrounded by the 25 band members of The Tennessee Kids and featuring show-stopping performances from one of the highest-grossing tours of the decade, the film is a culmination of the singer’s 134 shows and 2 years on the road.

On October 13th, a group of “unusual” big-headed and furry-suited men and women compete to be crowned Best Mascot in the World in the new Christopher Guest movie Mascots. The drama 7 años is centered around four friends and business partners who in one evening are forced to find a way to save their company and themselves. The impossible decision they face is agreeing on who will be the one to sacrifice their freedom to save the others from personal and financial demise. It is a race against time that will put their friendship and sanity to the test. Who will take the fall? 7 años airs on Netflix on October 28th.

Also on October 28th, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House is about a nurse who retells the story of how she moved into an old house to care for an ailing horror writer in the last few months of her life, and never left.

Netflix Original Comedy Specials

Russell Peters and Joe Rogan are both bringing new comedy specials to Netflix in October. On October 7th, you can join Peters in Russel Peters: Almost Famous, and then catch Joe Rogan: Triggered on October 21st.

Netflix Original Documentaries

After some hard hitting documentaries in September, Netflix follows up with a trio of new original documentaries in October. On October 7th, check out 13th. Ava DuVernay’s extraordinary and galvanizing documentary refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which reads “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States.” The progression from that second qualifying clause to the horrors of mass criminalization and the sprawling American prison industry is laid out by DuVernay with bracing lucidity. With a potent mixture of archival footage and testimony from a dazzling array of activists, politicians, historians, and formerly incarcerated women and men, DuVernay creates a work of grand historical synthesis.

Told through the artist’s own words and those of family, friends, colleagues, and critics, Sky Ladder: The Art Of Cai Guo-Qiang traces Cai’s meteoric rise from childhood in Mao’s China to pre-eminent global artist. We witness as Cai struggles with how to affect social change through art, and navigate the compromises and complexities that arise when you’ve made it to the top. When you’ve gone as far as he has, how do you challenge yourself? His massive explosion events actively engage audiences around the globe—from his seminal 1993 work that extended the Great Wall of China with six miles of gunpowder fuse; to the daytime colored fireworks that ripped through the deserts of Doha, to the astonishing opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Tune in on October 14th and enjoy the story behind the art of Cai Guo-Qiang, and check out a sample of his work in the video below.

Speaking with scientists and indigenous peoples alike, they seek to understand the complex and deeply rooted relationship between mankind and one of nature’s greatest wonders.

Netflix Original Series For Kids

A brand new Netflix Original Series for Kids hits on October 28th with Skylanders Academy. The animated action-comedy Skylanders Academy is based on Activision Blizzard’s record-breaking video game franchise, the show follows the heroic adventures of Spyro, Eruptor, Stealth Elf, Jet-Vac and Pop Fizz as they travel the vast Skylands universe, protecting it from evil-doers.

October also sees the return of Dinotrux on October 7th for a third season, season 3 of Project MC2 on October 14th, season 3 of The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show on October 21st, and the second season of Word Party on October 21st as well.
