Design

The Satechi Type-C USB Car Charger looks pretty much like all the rest out there. It has the same basic cylindrical shape and the same round head unit. In the case of Satechi though, the main shaft is white with the Satechi logo imprinted on it (although only half visible when plugged in) while the head unit is constructed of metal with a smooth silver bezel, and in the case of our review unit, gold. You can also get white/silver and black/space grey if you wish. The Satechi Type-C USB Car Charger not only has a USB Type-C port but also has a standard USB port so you can dual charge your Type-C and Micro- or Mini-USB devices as well.

Ease of Use

There really isn’t much to explain here, simply plug the car charger into your cigarette lighter/DC port in your vehicle and then plug in a USB Type-C or USB to Micro-USB cable and connect to your device to charge it.

Performance

The Satechi Type-C USB Car Charger functioned as expected, with rapid charging being achieved on my Nexus 6P. I also tested it with my Nexus 5 and achieved rapid charging as well. The car charger both charged my phone and powered my dash camera with no issues.

Price/Value

At $24.99, Satechi’s Type-C USB Car Charger is a bit pricier than other offerings, but it does offer a metal head unit and does look classier than other similar products.

Wrap-up

If you’re looking for a car charger that can charge both USB Type-C and older Micro-USB devices with a classier look, you might want to pick up the Satechi Type-C USB Car Charger.
