Bixi gives you gesture control over your smart devices

Bixi

Bixi tracks your natural, intuitive hand gestures, processing the movement into meaningful action that is sent wirelessly to the device being controlled.

So we get a daily round of PR emails concerning Kickstarter and Indiegogo projects — many of which we ignore for one reason or another. I’ll have to admit that I ignored Bixi at first, then took a second look when they emailed me again. At first glance the product didn’t really grab me but I may have been distracted doing other things that day. After taking a second look at Bixi I found myself intrigued and went ahead and reached out to PR for a review unit to check it out. Take a look at the video below to see Bixi in action.

After watching the video and reading a bit more about Bixi, the applications struck me as very useful. Changing tracks on your smartphone while biking or moving from page to page in a recipe while cooking are just a few useful applications this little gadget can do. Yes, this is probably not for everyone but it could be for a lot of people and for the Kickstarter price of $69USD, it doesn’t seem like a bad little buy. The Super Early Bird $59USD price is all gone and the project has already been fully funded, which happened in one hour. Bixi was seeking $25,000USD and is already sitting at $35,000USD with 39 days to go.

Bixi commands smartphone Apps (Spotify, iBooks, Youtube, etc), LifX bulbs, Bose Soundtouch Speakers, GoPro, tablets and other Internet of Things devices, allowing users to keep interacting with their smart objects without putting their current activity on pause..

It’s an interesting gadget for sure, as we mentioned, we reached out for a review unit and if we do get one we’ll be sure to post our full review on the site. In the meantime, you can hit the link below to find out more about the gadget and back the project should you choose to.
