First look at the 2017 Megazord Power Rangers action figure

The long-standing Power Rangers franchise has seen a vast number of different iterations over the years, and the latest addition comes to us in the form of a live-action film. The announcement of this new film has drawn a lot of comments from fans and newcomers alike, both positive and negative.

A recent Tweet from the film’s official Twitter account has allowed fans their very first glimpse at the brand new, and updated, Megazord design. Unfortunately, this first glimpse is not taken from the movie itself. Instead, we can see the representation of the design from an action figure set to release alongside the film in 2017.

This new design offers an overall sleeker, more humanoid form than we are accustomed to. The figure seems to portray a much more alien design, which keeps in line with reports that the Ranger’s  power coins, and subsequent abilities, have an otherworldly origin. Unlike the classic 90’s Megazord form, we are also unable to clearly see the points of attachment where the 5 different Ranger’s zords would normally join together.

It remains to be seen how the Megazord will function throughout the film, and who the Megazord will face off against. Fans will need to keep in mind that there are, of course, necessary changes that need to be made in order to bring the franchise to a newer generation and maintain current action film standards.

I am personally unsure of how I feel about this new take on the classic Megazord, but time will tell if fans will warm up to the idea of the newer incarnation. I, for one, am quite interested to see how this will translate to film, and if it will blend in well with the action or stand out like a poor CGI robot.

Let me know your thoughts below in the comments section or on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. Do you feel the new design will prove to be a surprise to us when in action? We still have a few months left to ponder this, as the film is currently slated for a March 24, 2017, release date.
