If you’ve been following Neil Patrick Harris on Twitter you’ve already been preparing yourself for this day. Today, Netflix has released the first trailer for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Based on the series of books by Daniel Handler, Unfortunate Events follows the life of the Baudelaire children — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny — as they traverse life after the untimely death of their parents.
Originally placed into the care of Count Olaf (Harris), a distant family member who is intent on stealing the children’s vast inheritance, the series follows the resourceful children as they outfox the dastardly Olaf and come to learn more about their family history.
If you don’t happen to follow NPH on Twitter, he’s been sharing some of the devious costumes Count Olaf has used to try and outsmart the Baudelaire children. You’ll see all of these outfits in the trailer above (which looks fantastic, btw), but you can really see how excited NPH is about this role, and from everything I’ve seen so far it looks like he does a great job as the devious Count Olaf.
