LaCie has announced its next generation of storage solutions at CES 2017 with more speed, higher capacity, and better compatibility. The newly announced products include the new LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C and the new LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3.

LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C

The new LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C adds USB Type-C compatibility and Thunderbolt speeds of up to 510MB/s with the 500GB and 1TB SSD version. HDD versions will be available as well in 2TB, 4TB, and 5TB configurations and use Seagate BarraCuda hard disk drives.

With the Rugged SSD versions, creative professionals will be able to transfer 100GB of content in roughly three minutes and can expect more responsive photo library browsing in apps like Adobe Lightroom. The bus-powered Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C drives are also shock, dust, and water resistant making them perfect for use on location for photographers, videographers, musicians, and various other uses.

The new LaCie Rugged drive will start at $249.99USD and will be available in the first quarter of 2017.

LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3

For those looking for even more storage for their limited capacity SSD laptops or all-in-one computers, the new LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 drive will allow users to expand their storage by 6TB, 8TB, or 10TB.

The new drives will support Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 speeds of up to 240MB/s through USB Type-C ports and feature Seagate BarraCuda Pro 7200RPM hard disks. The drives also feature dual Thunderbolt 3 ports allowing users to daisy chain dual 4K displays, a single 5K display, or up to six LaCie d2 drives together. Compatible laptops, like the MacBook Pro, can also be powered from the LaCie d2 drive reducing the number of cables or power connections required on your desktop.

The new LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 drive will start at $429.99USD and also be available in the first quarter of this year.
